The Caffeine Junkie and Her Escapades
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecc 12:13Archive for June, 2007
Episode 222: wo de ming zhi shi earl
“ever since I first drank chocolate milk, I knew I wanted a moustache”
– Earl.
hehe. yet another reason why I love this show.
Episode 221: giggles
the tall, dark (ok, not handsome, but thats tres small pt!) bassist from grahamkendrick’s band has stole me heart. *giggles*
but seriously, I was so blessed by the concert (or whatchamallcallit) last night and today.
I believe as they beat on his beautiful face
He turned a torturer’s chair to an altar of grace
Where the worst we can do met the best that God does
Where unspeakable hate met the gaze
Of unstoppable love
At the crux of it all there he hangs
I’ve placed my hope in a crucified man
(Crucified man)
sometimes the “logic” of the Gospel is so simple it confounds us, foolishness to all who are perishing, but hope for all.
Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so!
Episode 220: tuna sammies
methinks this year’s church camp is the bestest best. Not because of the food (which was seriously fabo by the way, such yummy carbonara…oh shucks..CARBO nara…), or even the speaker (Uncle I, you float my boat and rock my socks and uh…okie my pocky?), but because, as of June 9th 2007, I’m absolutely convinced that COR is the place for me to be in.
No more nonsense about changing church, no more arguments and those dreaded “family meetings” about our family’s role in COR etcetc. No more dealing cards into the devil’s hand. No more. God already answered my prayer (of 7 looooing years) for a cell group (i think i’ve got a siao group, not a cell group..but anyway..) and at the church camp, when aunty P said that each life was created such that only one person can live it, God showed me the pieces coming together, as to why I am here at this point in time.
Jesus uses our five loaves and two fishes. Here’s to a very yummy tuna sandwich.
Episode 219: 90 days
and it all came to naught. it was never an interstice, just lines on different planes. such an illusion! *tsk*
Episode 218: oh look! who’s the happy camper?
LPC 2007 is over! and it wasn’t as boring as I thought it would be; in fact, I actually enjoyed myself. despite having butter smeared across my back and on my tee shirt (glares). the campsite wasn’t the horrid mess I had imagined it to be, save for the rotting fish in the dustbin. that. was. gross. a random thing I learnt: magnum actually means like “the best”, always just thought it was either a gun or an ice-cream. hehe
the personal aim of making friends was achieved. yay!
it was cool to have random bo-liao conversations and also to listen to people’s fears about the upcoming year ahead. and to play captain’s ball with the other ‘local students fgd’ people. ok fine, maybe captain’s ball is not that bad, like, one notch above moping at piano lessons.
more importantly, was learning more about God, from the theme talks, and also indirectly from the cluedo game of vcf history, in learning of God’s faithfulness to the ministry. Apart from the can of worms of ‘predestination’ from theme talk one, what struck a chord was when the speaker spoke about what we desire and then he listed a few examples. humphs. i guess in the end the Bible still has the final word right? “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps 37:4)
in any case I felt the last theme talk on Spiritual Warfare was really pertinent because it showed us that it is in the mundane that the devil sometimes has the strongest foothold, hence the need to always be vigilant.
one worship session led by R was particularly poignant, because I first heard this song at LPC 2005 and since then I’ve not heard it again. singing it at LPC 2007, before a long year ahead, was particularly heartening. And the song is by steve green “find us faithful”.
We’re pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who’ve gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God’s sustaining grace
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who’ve gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives
CHORUS:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
LPC is an interesting camp, it stands at the threshold of changes, where we look at the past year, on lessons learnt about a faithful God and the need to be faithful in service, and we also look forward to the new one ahead, visualising the beginning of the end. I can only pray that we will end well, not by our own standards, but only by the benchmark of God.
